Sublustrum Release Date

The official window

Phantomery Interactive and Brickworks Games schedule the finished Sublustrum remake for Fall 2026. That is the sentence on the announcement, the trailer cards, and the Steam store. It is a season, not a day. There is no 1 September lock, no Halloween date, and no Black Friday SKU. The store page still presents the product as coming soon. Price is unannounced. There is no paid preorder — only a Steam wishlist.

Fall, in publisher English, usually means September through November in the northern hemisphere. Teams keep the seasonal label while they finish localization, certification, and whatever console submissions they have not publicly named. Until a patch note or a Steam event names a calendar day, every numbered date you see on a listing site is someone else’s guess.

The 2008 game (Sublustrum in Russia and Poland, Outcry in the West) is a different product with a different store history. Do not import its old street date into this remake. The 2026 project is a full 3D reimagining with new puzzles and expanded storylines, not a rerelease of the original disc.

Playtest is not the full launch

On 27 August 2026 the Steam news hub announced that a playtest would begin on 4 September 2026. That window is open. It covers the first part of the game — exploration, puzzles, and the opening of the Flickering World — not the complete campaign. You still have to click Request Access on the Steam page. Approval is not guaranteed on the same afternoon you ask.

A playtest client does not move Fall 2026 forward. It does not mean “the remake launched.” Steam’s own playtest module is a separate artifact from the upcoming paid package. If a friend says they are “playing Sublustrum,” ask whether they mean chapter one under a playtest license or a finished copy that does not exist yet. How to request, what “first chapter” includes, and where to send feedback are written on the playtest page.

Platforms attached to the window

The only confirmed storefront for the full release is PC on Steam (app 4151300). Consoles are officially unspecified. Some databases already show PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series hardware; treat those rows as unconfirmed third-party listings, not as SKUs Brickworks has sold. Language support, single-player scope, planned achievements, and Family Sharing’s “excluded until release” flag belong on platforms. None of those feature flags change the seasonal window by themselves.

If you are buying hardware for this remake, buy for the Steam PC target first. Console owners should wait for a named platform and a named day. Wishlisting on Steam still makes sense if you might play on PC at all: the ping is cheap, and there is no second official PC storefront to split your follow across.

How the public timeline reached Fall 2026

26 November 2025: announcement and official English trailer; Fall 2026 named for PC and consoles. 12 December 2025: inspirations post (music-first design, film references). 15 June 2026: 50,000 Steam wishlists celebrated — a community milestone, not a date change. 29 July 2026: FAQ; a playtest or demo was promised as “not too long” without a day. 27 August 2026: playtest dated to 4 September. 4 September 2026: chapter-one playtest window opens, still request-only.

That paper trail, including the trailer embed, is on news and trailer. This release-date article will not restamp Fall 2026 into a fake day to look more precise. If Brickworks later names October, or slips the season, the first sentence of this page is the line that should change.

What “not out” means in practice

You cannot buy the finished remake today. You cannot Family Share a finished copy. You cannot assume Steam Achievements have gone live for a 1.0 build. You can wishlist, request the playtest, watch the trailer, and read guides that describe systems the studio has already shown. That is the whole legal and practical difference between a seasonal window and a launch.

Social captions that say a game is “out now” after a playtest starts are usually sloppy, not leaked. Cross-check the Steam app: if the main purchase module still says coming soon, the full game is not in your library. Keep the wishlist in place so the real launch ping can arrive whenever Fall 2026 becomes a Tuesday.

How to stay current without rumor

Follow Steam news for app 4151300, the official site, and the socials listed on official links. This wiki will rewrite the window when first-party copy rewrites it. Until then, the accurate sentence is short: full remake, Fall 2026, no day; playtest, 4 September 2026, chapter one, request required.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

What is the Sublustrum release date?

The finished remake is scheduled for Fall 2026. No calendar day has been named. The playtest that opened on 4 September 2026 is chapter one only.

Did the playtest replace the Fall 2026 launch?

No. Brickworks has not swapped the seasonal window for an earlier 1.0. Playtest access is a separate Steam module.

Is there a preorder date?

No paid preorder exists. Use the wishlist guide on Steam if you want a launch notification.

Will consoles launch on the same day as PC?

Unknown. Consoles are still unspecified. See platforms before you treat a database SKU as real.

Where do official date posts go?

Steam news and the studio accounts. The dated list is mirrored on news and trailer.

Was the 2008 original’s date reused?

No. The 2008 *Sublustrum* / *Outcry* street date does not apply to this 3D remake.
