Sublustrum System Requirements
Steam’s 720p30 minimum and 1080p60 recommended rows, plus SSD and headset notes the spec sheet understates.
Read the table as a target, not a promise
Steam publishes two hardware rows for Sublustrum (app 4151300). They describe the PC build Phantomery Interactive and Brickworks Games are targeting for the remake. The finished product is still scheduled for Fall 2026. The chapter-one playtest that opened on 4 September 2026 does not ship a second spec card — use this table for both the requestable slice and the future 1.0 client.
Laptop nameplates lie. A “GTX 1060” in a thin chassis with 6 GB of shared memory is not the desktop 3 GB card Steam named. Count VRAM, TDP, and whether Windows is 64-bit before you click Request Access. Consoles remain unspecified on the platforms page; there is no official PlayStation or Xbox hardware sheet to mix into this table.
Minimum (720p30)
| Item | Steam minimum |
|---|---|
| OS | Windows 10 64-bit |
| CPU | Intel Core i5-7400 / AMD Ryzen 5 1600 |
| Memory | 8 GB RAM |
| GPU | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 3 GB / AMD Radeon RX 580 4 GB |
| DirectX | Version 11 |
| Storage | 10 GB available space |
| Sound | DirectX-compatible |
| Target | 720p at 30 fps |
| Note | SSD highly recommended |
This is the floor for a playable image, not a pretty one. 720p30 on a 1080p monitor will look soft. The i5-7400 / Ryzen 5 1600 generation is 2017-era six-thread / six-core territory; if your CPU is older than that and you already struggle in other first-person adventures, do not expect the playtest to be the exception. 8 GB of RAM is the official minimum — close the browser farm before you boot. The GTX 1060 3 GB and RX 580 4 GB figures are VRAM numbers; a 6 GB 1060 is extra headroom, not a different Steam row.
DirectX 11 is the API line on minimum. If Windows 10 is 32-bit, stop; the row is 64-bit only. 10 GB is the install budget on this row. Leave more free if you want Windows and Steam to update without shoving the client off the disk mid-session.
Recommended (1080p60)
| Item | Steam recommended |
|---|---|
| OS | Windows 11 64-bit |
| CPU | Intel Core i5-9600K / AMD Ryzen 5 3600 |
| Memory | 12 GB RAM |
| GPU | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 Super / AMD Radeon RX 5700 or better |
| DirectX | Version 12 |
| Storage | 15 GB available space |
| Sound | DirectX-compatible |
| Target | 1080p at 60 fps |
| Note | SSD highly recommended |
Recommended is the row to aim at if you want the photoreal interiors and film-grain presentation to hold together while you listen for a puzzle cue. The i5-9600K / Ryzen 5 3600 step is a generation (or two) newer than minimum. 12 GB of RAM is the official rec; 16 GB is the practical modern floor if you keep Discord and a browser open while you report bugs. RTX 2060 Super and RX 5700-class cards are the named GPUs; anything “or better” should be counted on actual raster performance, not an AI-upscaler marketing badge.
DirectX 12 is the recommended API. Storage rises to 15 GB. If you only have 11 GB free, you are not on the recommended row even if the GPU is new. Windows 11 64-bit is the listed OS; Windows 10 machines that otherwise match the GPU row can still try the playtest, but they are off the recommended script.
SSD, sound, and headphones
Both rows repeat SSD highly recommended. The remake streams dense 3D rooms, analog-film presentation, and layered audio beds. A 5400 RPM archive drive will hitch on texture and cue loads even if the GPU is recommended-class. Put the Steam library on the SSD you already game from. NVMe versus SATA matters less than “not a spinning disk.”
Steam’s audio line is DirectX-compatible sound. That is a driver checkbox, not a studio instruction. Sublustrum’s puzzles are shaped by sound: official inspirations copy calls out a detuned piano in the professor’s apartment and other location-specific identities. Headphones are the practical extra this wiki will keep repeating. A laptop tin speaker will hide the cue the puzzle is built on. You do not need a surround virtualizer; a plain stereo headset is enough.
What this page will not guess
No ultrawide support claim. No DLSS/FSR version number the studio has not posted. No Steam Deck verification badge to invent. No “it will run on a toaster if you cap at 30.” No console equivalent of these rows until platforms names a SKU. Family Sharing is excluded until the finished product ships, so do not plan to test the playtest on a sibling’s machine through sharing.
If your PC misses minimum, you can still wishlist the app and wait for Fall 2026 hardware — or for the studio to publish a different target. If you meet recommended, request the playtest and take FPS notes to Discord instead of arguing with a YouTube benchmark that used the 2008 executable.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Does the playtest use different specs?
Steam has not posted a second table. Use these min/rec rows for the chapter-one playtest and for the future full client.
Is an SSD required?
Steam says highly recommended on both rows. Treat a spinning disk as the first upgrade if you already own the named GPU.
Are headphones on the Steam sheet?
No. They are a wiki recommendation because puzzles are sound-shaped. DirectX-compatible output is the official audio line.
Will this run on a console?
Consoles are unspecified. There is no official PS5 or Xbox spec sheet. See platforms.
I pass recommended. What next?
Wishlist the app with the wishlist guide and request playtest access on Steam. Specs do not grant a license.
